Day 3 - Marketplace Exploration And Movies

Early morning pow-wows in bed to decide what exactly was going to happen today turn into giggling matches quickly lol

Natalie's house and the cool Gum Tree she's got out front - these trees are so cool looking!

Today was an easy going day (recovering from traveling while still exploring some).  Our lovely hostess gave us a tour of the city as we drove around and told us some history things about the area.  We stopped off at a marketplace and it took us at least 20 minutes to make it out of the first aisle because we were all so fascinated by the different goodies they have here LOL Aralynn was so disappointed that her go-to cookie snack, Oreos, contain milk here. The look of shock and betrayal to cross her face was hilarious, but she recovered quickly when we found other things she could have instead.

You may be wondering why I took a picture of milk. Well, I'll tell you.  We were walking around, shopping for treats and food for the next couple days and one of my girls stopped and pointed at the milk exclaiming "It exists!!" Confused, I asked what she was talking about.  All she had to say was "Gimme a BIG M" and we all started giggling.  We had to demonstrate the girls camp song to the others that weren't familiar with it, and pretty quickly, we were all in stitches over it.

We came home to put away our treats (and we got a lot of "just so we can say we tried it" goodies), made lunch and then headed out to the movies.  We wanted to be weird and say "we went to Australia to go to the movies" - just to be silly (if you didn't know I was weird before, well, now you do haha).  It turned out to be the funniest movie, and I'd recommend going to see it with your littles (Migration).

We came back to the house for dinner and more sampling of the cakes, breads, puddings, spreads, etc, that we got earlier.

Yesterday, I didn't post about this, but, do you remember my "daddy quilt" we made after my dad passed away? Well, we had one made for Natalie as well, but didn't get it shipped to her.  We decided to bring it along. *loved it*

Now, you all might be thinking that it was a "not as exciting day", however, what isn't pictured is the hours of laughter with tears streaming from our eyes, the glorious markets, the utter awe at the magnitude of things here, the sounds of the birds just outside, the sound of the rains when they came (ok, just kidding, I do have a video of that one I'll try to post), the fun we had running from one thing to the next...ALL THE THINGS!!  Plus, we got some exciting things that we're going to cook today (kangaroo steaks, wallaby steaks/sausages). I'm excited you guys!!

We have many adventures planned out, so keep coming back to check in!!

  1. The video won’t work (at least for me). That’s so cool that you could bring the quilt for her!! She’s your sister who lives in Australia? What a great house a day. We saw that movie too and loved it. But I do have to say it would have been cooler seeing it in Aussieland. Haha.
