Day 5: Temple, Beach, Relaxing

I forgot to share a bit from yesterday!  Oops!  Celeste found a pine cone and wanted to keep it.  We didn't think customs would let us through with it, so we offered to take a pic of her with it instead.  She reluctantly complied.  But, seriously, check out this pine cone! It's HUGE!

After the eventful day yesterday, we decided that a day of resting was in order.  We still wanted to do things, just scale it back a bit. A few of us hopped on over to the temple (AND, one of our crew drove on the left side of the road...legally this time LOL)

We got to go to the hardware store here so we could fix a couple things that needed some attention around the house.  It's like Home Depot, but apparently people here don't get snacky or thirsty when doing their home improvement projects.  We couldn't find a snack or drink at ALL in that store haha Their stores are very compartmentalized around here.  We came home and grabbed some lunch and then, those that felt rested up enough trotted off to the beach for some fun.  There are a few of us here that decided to stay behind and rest up a bit more.

After the beach adventure, we came home and had dinner. Kangaroo and wallaby. The general consensus was it was ok - not the worst we've had but not our mostest favorite. The texture was what got me the most.  It's a combination of liver and ground up mushy jerky.  Kangaroo tastes better than wallaby, just fyi LOL For dessert, we had Pavlova. SO DELICIOUS!!

We then got to have Christmas #2 with our little miss Emily since she's home now!  We got to see her open her fun gifts and, I do believe we tuckered her out!

  1. Wow. Wow. Wow. What a full day!!! So many amazing things to see and do. I actually like that the stores are compartmentalized. Probably helps businesses stay in business. But not super convenient if you’re traveling and want a one stop place.

Also, that pinecone IS huge! I used to gather soil from every country I visited. But at the airport I was stopped and almost missed my flight to the USA because of it. So, good call.
